I have never seen a more insincere speech. If he were talking about Labour’s past support for genocide, he wouldn’t start with a condemnation of Palestinian resistance to 80 years of oppression. He still didn’t use the word “genocide” and, instead of condemning Zionism he tries to narrow it to one man - Netanyahu. He didn’t talk about the treatment Labour has meted out to citizens who took action in support of internal law. I fear he could be a nastier Zionist than Starmer.

An excellent summary of what Burnham has to do. On paper, it is simple, but when surrounded by myriads of Israel supporters in parliament, it is not so easy, but he has the backing of the majority of people to do so and it has to be a major focus for him to understanding how he can do so and carry the support of his party with him. Labour friends of Israel has to be calling a very different tune. De-proscribing Palestine Action will go a long way to help us believe what he said about Labour getting things wrong.
