I don't feel well qualified to comment on the goodness or badness of Hamas - I actually don't know. All I do know is that extreme situations, violence and injustice breed extremist responses... However my friend tells me that there is a mafia-like culture in Hamas. She says "I think it’s fairly widely known the former “public” leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, made his name as a tough guy by forcing the brother of a suspected “traitor” in Hamas ranks to bury his own brother alive." I have no idea if this is true or not or where she got this information - this may not be the place to have this discussion with Hamas being a proscribed organisation but I was interested to know if you have any thoughts on this.
