Western governments have been moraly bankrupt for decades. Money, and those wallowing in it are their masters, period. It will all come crashing down at some point. The only casualties, as usual, will be the peasants.

The genocidal apartheid israeli regime can tell such blatant lies.....because there is a large constituency in the so called west that is full of bile and hatred and is a willing audience for these and many other lies.

Ask Russia. Ask China. Ask any country that appears not to know "its place" in the western heirarchy: we on top, everyone else subservient. There are all too many eager to lap up such blatnat lies. That is why the lies are told.

A few thoughts; Israel will never be top dog in the region, only an insecure little chihuahua with rabies like it always has been.

I’m a layperson, not a journalist or political analyst but even I knew that the U.S. starting war with Iran wouldn’t be the quick regime change that Netanyahu convinced Trump it would be.

How did I know that? Simply from listening to Iranian experts as well as unbiased and informed independent Western journalists and political analysts. It kinda blows my mind that the president is less capable of good judgment/leadership than a random layperson like myself.

Also, everyone who knows the bare minimum basics about history and geopolitics understood from way back that Israel will not last long as a state. Even the CIA back in 2009~ published a report predicting the end of the state of Israel by the early to mid 2020s. Israel was an ill-conceived idea from the start, and even some Israeli figures and historians said so themselves.

Western media has been an Israeli mouthpiece for decades and has demonstrated its willingness to put words in Ahmedinajjad’s mouth, outright lying to the public to gain consent for war against Iran, as well as against whomever Israel wants to target next. How are these media outlets not complicit in war crimes? How is it that they’re still running?

And lastly I have to say how much Israel reminds me of Cinderella’s evil, ugly-*ss step-sisters. “Please momma (U.S.), please kill everyone around me so I can be the prettiest and the strongest.”

Thank you once again. Isn't it so totally weird that the West allows Israel to get away with Genocide and total bullshit and always has!

Strikes me that Israel as well as Washington is being ruled by two insane old men. Neither have much longer to live, so they don’t care what they are doing to the world. It isn’t just the US that needs to wake up but Israel as well.

Thanks Jonathan - an excellent and (certainly for me) illuminating post

‘Every accusation is an admission’ applies once again to Israel as it reveals its war-mongering ambitions across the ME through its crazy assertions about the threat posed by Iran.

It's a little bit more subtle than that. The US based interests, who back everything Israel does, sets out to blame Israel for doing what they're told.

If we know that giant corps are actually behind everything- a) we know that it doesn't matter who we vote for b)the only course of action is to divest from these corporate interests in big oil, pharma, finance, animal ag, media and arms etc.

These interests are happy for us to continue to use their products all the while we instead blame the deliberately grotesque cartoon Israeli characters. They purposefully drive us insane with hatred and anger, so that we don't notice that these corporations are actually pulling the strings.

I, more than most journalists, accentuate the structural factors at play in the world. But it really doesn't advance the left's cause to be constantly refusing to allow, as you are doing throughout this comments section, for concrete examples of how these structural forces operate through central figures promoted through those structures. That is to ignore how people's minds work. A critical task is to help people understand how they are being misled by their politicians and journalists. That is the first step before they can grasp that those politicians and journalists belong to a class whose job is to hide from view deeper, structural interests. This is like peeling layers off an onion. It is a long process. You may feel you're further down that road. Please let others find their own way in their own time.

I am not part of the 'left's cause', so I don't need to help it. I am part of the cause of the UK and EU avoiding being fed feet first into the US proxy war with Russia; which needs to be completed yesterday. I also want to open eyes to the climate crisis that's both caused and hidden by these structural forces; I'm sure you'll agree, this cannot wait for a long process of discovery.

And for me it was a scales falling from the eyes event- in which everything made sense and I didn't need the laborious peeling back of layers or details (by those who've based their identity on doing so).

The concrete examples, in the think tank documents, of how the interests plan to use central figures they've promoted and set up, including politicians and journalists, helped me understand the whole structure at once. Meaning that I leapt over the other steps and could see at once the same structures operating all over the world.

Others can too.

I get that Jonathan. But we don’t have the luxury of time. The wolf is at the door.

"It is not Tehran that is led by unhinged, genocidal megalomaniacs threatening the security of the region and the world. It is Tel Aviv and Washington."

Iran has shown remarkable restraint dealing with Trump and company. It's amazing how mature they act compared to the spoiled brats of the US and Israel. Our only hope now is that Iran's patience will pay off and there will be peace on earth.

The world is about sixty years late in discovering that almost everything Israel says, or for which it advocates, is misleading. To Israel's credit, its skills in this regard are quite fantastic and are the result of consistent, intrepid effort. Zionists cannot be trusted under any circumstances, and it is shameful that the world has still not figured this out.

Call on Pope Leo XIV to do whatever it takes to save Gaza and stop the bombing, and end the starvation. Let him go to Gaza and stand with the suffering people who are being massacred by Israel and the Western posers. He can go to Gaza right now, and insist aid be allowed in. Then on to the West Bank to end the occupation and apartheid.

Is there anything more important in today's world than this?

More important than ever that the search for justice continues! The work that the Hind Rajab Foundation is doing to track down and bring Israeli criminals to justice is one that is vital in the effort to hold Israel accountable.  Let us hope they will also turn their sights on the criminal leaders of the countries of the west who are co-perpetrators of these crimes.
