Thank you for Your honesty-in telling your story and THE truth as it comes to the massaging and Dana toxin g and scripting of MSM ( main stream media)
You state it in the mildest of ways
I would be waaaay stronger but I am Not the one telling the story (!)
Also thank you for“ permitting”comments - THIS allows us to praise and show solidarity .
THIS I think is UNIQUE in AND post I have read on “ I” or “”G” or the censorship relating to the catastrophe that has unravelled before our eyes .
I ,for one, celebrate the freedom you have given your readers and listeners to read , understand and respond to the direst of situations -and amongst the greatest of all hypocrisies -of the West
Thanks very much for this Jonathan. It’s not until nearly the end of this piece that you reveal the reason for the indulgence of the zionist entity: colonialism and the theft of resources that go with that mind-view. Sickening, but sadly not surprising. Thanks for explaining why this is the case.
There is no political/military action that pops out of the ground for no reason. In 2003 I happened to know the history of Iraq, having lived there, so I knew the BiBiSee were lying, and haven't watched that channel since. When Russia invaded Ukraine I researched the background, found John Mearscheimer, and haven't looked back. I have watched all the mainstream media lie through their teeth. The truth is getting harder to find so please don't stop, and stay safe Jonathan. From France.
The interesting parallel is that this applies to us all and on a much bigger scale/parameter than just Israel/Palestine.
We all have our world view developed by the cultural sphere in which we grow up and as a result have a much too rosy picture of precisely how big a part our nations/society and economic system play in the injustice, destruction and suffering going on within the global society.
How many people, rightly of course, criticise Israel, the wests economic, diplomatic support etc and with their next breath utter some sort of Putin/Hitler trope…..?
It all depends how rosy and small your bubble was as you developed, I suppose. As an Eastern European living in UK in the 50s (half my family behind the Iron Curtain), then later living in the middle east, experiencing Iran and Iraq firsthand, I like to think my world view is fairly broad, and am appalled at the lack of research and historical knowledge of many comments, on a daily basis.
The broader the background, the more likelihood of a broader world view. Particularly if it involves time spent in countries suffering at the pointy end of our system.
The point however is that such a method isn’t replicable for everyone - we need to collectively find a way to see past our conditioning and see things without the distortion of our past and the resultant systemic sunglasses. Then we can create something better - otherwise we just label shit revolution and then regurgitate the same nonsense with different labels. It isn’t for me about facts etc, it’s about that part of our brain learning to be quiet enough for empathy, kindred spirit etc to be heard. Those innate qualities get stomped on by our system, which rewards competition, drive for the prize, financial excess, ruthless acumen etc.
I just tried becoming a paid subscriber but my credit card asks me to confirm a payment of 0 GDP instead of the 60 euros. I had the same problem with Vanessa Beeley. What is going on? Are such payments being deliberately blocked?
Thanks, Colin. I really appreciate your desire to support my journalism.
I asked AI and this is the reply I got: "The request to approve a £0 payment on Substack is likely a payment method verification or a pre-authorization check by the payment processor, Stripe, or your bank. This is a common practice to ensure the card is valid and can accept future charges."
It looks like there's nothing suspect about the request.
This rings true with other reports I have had on the news media. The censoring of Palestine may be the most egregious example but in truth editors bend over backwards to ensure that all dominant (establishment) narratives remain exactly that. The news is manufactured by the mainstream media industry. (See 'Flat Earth News' by Nick Davies)
The role of journalists is not to inform us of the 'news', or even what's not in the news, it's to write copy that will sell advertising. This includes click bait that vegans and environmentalists like, often by George Monibot, which everyone else will just ignore.
We curate our own news to an extent but we all get exposed to advertising. Apart from on substack.
GB news, who according to Grok are independent and 'truly impartial' seems to be unable to sell enough ads and is not viable-'In the financial year to May 2023, the company's losses grew by 38% to £42.4 million, bringing the total deficit to £76m since its launch. In that financial year the company's losses were six times greater than revenue. In April 2024, the company started its first major redundancy exercise, with 40 roles to be removed.’ It’s not just propped up by fossil fuels and animal ag (pharma’s biggest client) it’s purely a mouth piece for them. 'They don't have journalists- just talking heads who all believe the climate crisis denials, being shareholders or having political motivations for doing so.
Information on the latest scientific papers appearing in the news are simply reprints of press releases. Even by the BBC who want to keep their charter so follow the party line of politicians- who are share-holders in fossil fuels, animal ag and pharma.
Thankyou Jonathan. I am appalled by learning about the behaviour of Israel & your information about the perils of journalists trying to publish the truth.

Great work thanks Jonathon. So much truth, so important.

You are right, thank you. Sorry for my suspicious mind!

There's much good in Davies' book. But there are weaknesses too. You may be interested in this essay by me:

Thank you Jonathan. Your article expresses with clarity many of my muddled concerns
Me too - I’ve already used it as a benchmark to help others ’get’ it.
