A few have receive six figure sums. It is time donations were better monitored and limited from all sources.
Britain does have a constitution but it is not a single written document upheld by law. The UK’s constitution is spread across a number of places. This dispersal can make it more difficult to identify and understand. And, in the case of the Filton 4 being imprisoned as terrorists, easier for the government to manipulate as they wish.
It seems it is time to gather our written rights together, including a remnant from the time of Charles I - Cromwell about impeachment. Starmer seems to have an unusual approach to Law, keep it if it suits him but, if possible, change it if it does not. The loss of Trust has been massive, which of course suits his favoured country, - with its love of using chaos for various purposes. That so many elected representatives sell out with such apparent ease should astonish. Sadly, it no longer surprises. I think we are moving out of the Post WW2 era, into a more global community of Nations and peoples. Wrath is growing about the treatment of the Palestinians, hence the show concessions. But look to Spain to see what happens to countries who really cross Isr*el. Floods can be switched on, mud can be slung. We need to stand together but we do not. As English protestors face horrendous detention conditions, the Irish (unaware?) snipe at the English, a people who mostly lived in drudgery, without the vote, during their famine. That many Northerners especially have Irish blood in the veins does not stem the hate 'shared' with the possibly bewildered Palestinians. And while all this time is thrown away, another child is shot in the forehead in Gaza, or bitten by rats, or bombed in their tents, asleep then forever. We do not just fail the Palestinians tragically, we fail the hidden sane in Israel. We must work together to sort out this mess. It is time to take back our real countries, people trying to do right, to care for others and get along. Burnham may be the last stand for our current model of Parliament. That it is broken, autocratic and too often inept, is all too apparent. The fear of the return of some of our lost democracy is ironically hastening the process. One word says it all,- Enough.

Well, I hold dual citizenship between the US& the UK although I’m posting from the US. I just yesterday learned that the UK was actually arresting people for speaking their minds. Before I obtained British citizenship they gave me a book to study. It’s been a few decades & I no longer have that book but I do recall both the British Parliament and the book expressly insisting your form of government being a democracy vs. the Monarchy it used to be ( given you still have a king). As a democracy don’t you have a Constitution? I thought you did. And doesn’t that Constitution offer you free speech? After all, the Puritans were British subjects when they left the UK & surrounding countries when they left for America which is part of why they added the language of free speech to America’s Constitution. In the 1400’s Britain was still a Monarchy and given Henry VIII beheaded six or so of his wives clearly you didn’t have free speech as an option but this is not the 1400’s!
