Sympathy for Israeli former captive Eli Sharabi must not obscure the bigger picture: he has allowed himself to be recruited to Israel's propaganda campaign for genocide
We’ve never before been manipulated by the power behind the media in the crass way we have been beaten to submission by Israel propaganda. Previously we fantasised we had some kind of debate on the MSM and there was some respect for the likes of the BBC and The Guardian. We even had some semblance of impartiality until the western democracies joined the war against unarmed Palestinians.
We do get occasional clips on the devastating impact of western ordnance on poor civilians, but the narrative is unconditionally Israel's in all its brutality and contempt for rationality or the truth. The MSM has taken its narrative as a biblical commandment to be onside with the supremacist aggressors. It's become an asset in a war of extermination of innocents and its orders are to tell us that it's not convenient to side with the victims.
The media like New york times has always been on the side of propaganda. Same goes for all major media. We were always propagandised but we weren’t as aware.
Jonathan, I agree with you that It’s crucial that we present both sides of the story to ensure people aren’t left with a one-sided perspective that could skew their understanding.
Take Eli Sharabi, for instance; I can’t help but think he might have had his reasons for refraining from speaking negatively about his country. Perhaps, in his own way, he was being truthful when discussing the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigade and its complexities. It’s important to recognize that there is undoubtedly more to him than meets the eye.
My skepticism stems from Israel's historical tendency to propagate misleading narratives while simultaneously expecting public acceptance or approval of those narratives without question. This raises valid concerns about the reliability of information presented, particularly in such sensitive contexts as these. Especially when the majority of the other captives said that they weren’t mistreated and were well cared for.
while in grad school at the univ of iowa in the 1960's, one of the most elucidating courses i registered for was one in the faculty of rhetoric and public address where we learned to our collective chagrin, that no matter what language of communication is used, it is highjacked to deceive far more consistently and effectively than it is employed to serve as a path to veracious communication.
It is common for Palestinian captives to be arbitrarily RE-ARRESTED, even after being released in an exchange of prisoners. They can then be detained again without limit of time, without charge, and without access to lawyers. Their families will not be told their whereabouts. They have, in fact, 'disappeared' thanks to the uniquely Israeli law of Administrative Detention.
Gaza is the "War of the Future." Research currently into adverse events suffered by those vaccinated with mRNA will eventually provide insights into easily killing soldiers because the research centers around hacking the human immune system. Soldiers will no longer fight on a battlefield. Instead, they will be encased within HQ bunkers operating platforms with weapons attached (like machine guns) and drone bombs and strafing guns.
General populations will become the targets for wars. Nations will capitulate when their AI-driven systems prove inadequate against another. What you see in Gaza is the future prototype for war in the latter part of this century into the next. Much of the human population will likely be exterminated.
Thank you Jonathan for your tireless work in bringing perspective to the atrocities being committed by Israel. I find it fascinating how the language and words used by MSM in relation to this genocide creates an incredibly warped view. Even the terminology used to describe the Israeli's being held by Hamas (Hostages) is different to the way the Palestinians held by Israel are described (Detainees!). Words matter and your work and others like you become more important than ever to ensure that the real story is being told.
What Israel has done to the UN is repugnant. They have bombed the UN buildings in Gaza and now, as you describe, are using the UN to tell the story of an Israeli hostage, but say nothing about the Palestinian hostages who are tortured in the vial Israeli prisons.
Sharabi and his family are genocidal colonizers. They chose to ‘settle’ on the blood and bones of the indigenous people. They are all IOF at age 18. They were happy to squat close to the worlds largest open air concentration camp. They don’t deserve ‘’sympathy’.
When they implement this excuse to justify a genocide I always think they are quite similar to our mainstream media in the US that adopt one agenda or another, dramatize it, sell it, and truth be damned because they get millions of dollars to lie. It's all theater, and they have no moral compass. Netanyahu has spent his life doing this, like yes Saddam is building nuclear weapons and will become a nuclear threat, "Take him out!" He's very comfortable with lying and rationalizing his lies, and there are people all too willing to believe them, especially Israeli's who have been indoctrinated with hate for the Palestinians from the day they were born. Biden loved the lie that Saddam was a threat, so it also feeds the needs of those who are already believers.
Thank you, Jonathan, for telling it as it is, the truth of what Israel and the U.S. are doing.
I wish everyone could (would) read this. Thank you also to all those who posted truthful comments--XK, Damian, Atlas, and especially Brian, Joy, Elizabeth, Klonda56 (which is as far as I have time to read this morning. I was in the West Bank in November, and I was shocked by the changes there since the last time we were there two years before. And we stood on the hilltop outside Sderot and looked across at Gaza, where smoke was rising. We--the U.S., UK, and a few others as well as Israel--are responsible for this.
And with regards to your absurd claim that Israel has banned the U.N. from Gaza, that only applies to UNRWA, a home for hamas terrorists and many many months after the slaughter that happened on 7 October 2023
Your words are those of a person completely ignorant of the conflict in the Middle East
"Where was the UN?"
To put it bluntly, joining in with the rest of the Hamas terrorists participating in 10/7.

👏👏👏
If these have the brain to ask that question then they should have had a brain to ask where was and is the un for Palestine.

He should be looking at he's own murderous goverment ,well one man's problems mean noting in the big picture.

Another example of Israel’s incomparable victimhood! Israel should be expelled from the UN!
And backed by #FullSanctions. Economic Cutural

How can you have sympathy for someone who is a member of a genocidal death cult

Then expand our knowledge and attenuate our ignorance, by explaining why Netanyahu is on the record, saying how Isreal funds and facilitates Hamas?
Jings you pay to troll.....😆
