Brilliant article Jonathan. Every word rings true to anyone who can be bothered to reflect on what is actually going on in our world today. I fear many people have become very complacent and take their "freedoms" for granted. Sadly it's all too evident how manipulated and controlled people's minds and lives have become....and easy to see how they wind up with bad rulers.

Zuckerberg is lying. The censorship on FB and IG was not due to accidents or mistakes from a complicated system. My account was cancelled several times and often my comments were not allowed to be posted especially when I was commenting on posts by journalists who lived in Gaza. I was careful with my language. I would say something like hospitals should not be a target And then I would get a notice that the comment could not be posted and my acct would be cancelled.

Kep it up, Jonathan! Keep it up! We're not there yet, but we will get there.

My experience on Facebook has been largely the same as yours, and my platform is the same size. Although my reach hasn't returned to normal yet, it does seem to have improved a little. It would be ironic if it gets better under a Trump administration, but I'm not optimistic. I don't think they are remotely interested in free speech for people like me!

In the truest sense, that happened long ago (maybe 1870 or even earlier?) and what we've had instead is theater for the masses -- to entertain, distract and control perceptions, attitudes and to perpetuate the divisive "two party" system by those selected for the uni-party so the "agenda" could move forward regardless of which theatrical character held the title(s) of "authority" (the invisible strings of the global cabalists notwithstanding animating them all).

Is Jordana Cutler, ex-Netanyahu advisor and all the other Israeli censors on Meta going to get the push? Or is Palestine an exception to the new free speech policy?

I would be worried. This is about getting into bed with Trump. He is going to move his censors from California to Texas. I'm sure that's going to go down well. Texas being renowned as a bastion of liberalism!

But notice that one area he didn't mention was Israel/Palestine. Given all the Israelis he employs to direct the censorship I don't think we can expect any change there. I recently have had the experience of blogs I've advertised being followed almost immediately by a take-down flashed warning. I worked out that 'BDS' is a trigger word so is there going to be any change there? I somehow doubt it.

And he gave the game away when he said this is about protecting American companies. I'm sure we will all be relieved to know that Blackwater will have Mark Fuckerberg's protective arm around them.

Yes. I agree with you entirely. He did not mention Israel/Palestine. And information about Gaza was deliberately blocked. And still is

Zuckerberg also did not mention the War On Russia.

Jonathan like many - talks here only about dissenting "political" content when it's primarily *geopolitical* truth that terrifies, vexes and perplexes them..

I can't help if you don't read the words properly:

"In his grovelling video message to Trump – I mean, to Meta users – Zuckerberg effectively settles the question of whether his globe-spanning corporation has been aggressively corralling its 3 billion users away from political content. He admits it has.

"What he has not admitted, and won’t, is that Meta has not even been trying to enforce that censorship evenhandedly or neutrally. We know, for example, that Meta’s algorithms were carefully engineered for many long months during Israel’s genocide in Gaza to keep Palestinian news sources out of public view, while the same algorithms left Israeli news sources unharmed."

It would also help if you understood my simple inarguable point that the word 'geopolitical' appears zero times in your piece while the word 'political' appears FIVE times. I don't dispute that you include geopolitical references so why not actually use the word 'geopolitical' more than zero times? You must surely know that our mainstream media and overlords have always worked hard and successfully to de-geopoliticize the masses - and keeping the WORD 'geopolitical' absent from the everyday conversational lexicon and minds of the general population has always been a key part of that mind-blanking and all-too successful endeavour.

Gotta defer to them highfalutin words. We working class faceless "masses" need the superior intellect of a self-appointed vanguard to explain the world to us. Certainly we're too stupid to think for ourselves or to lead ourselves; Eugene V. Debs and my logger grandfather the Wobbly were wrong.

I'm surprised that Trump is allowing anti-genocide reading. Probably just long enough to stop the genocide of Slavs.

I'll believe he'll stop the genocide of Palestinians & the destruction of their homeland when I see it. Not one minute sooner.
