Let's imagine Israel gets fully out of all Palestinian areas, and a truly independent Palestinian state is created. Here's what happens after that...

1) The most ruthless members of the Palestinian community kill off all their competitors and establish yet another corrupt, inept, despotic Arab government which traps the Palestinian people in a new prison. For evidence, see Palestine's neighbors. See Lebanon. See Syria.

2) Western critics of Israel and America completely lose interest in the Palestinians, because they were never interested in them in the first place.

We've seen all this before.

1) Western leftists had no interest in what Saddam was doing to Iraqis and Iraq's neighbors.

2) Bush invades Iraq, and Western leftists have a fantasy moral superiority orgy.

3) The war ends, and Western leftists go right back to showing no interest at all in the Iraqi people.

You aren't interested in the Palestinians. You're interested in positioning yourself as being morally superior to somebody else. It's the same old phony self delusional game. We've seen it already countless times.

Check The US Department of State's definition of antisemitism:

one example is: "Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis."

Gee, I wonder how that got in there......

The old Hebrew chronicles record an important association of the wandering tribe with Sinai - why don't they follow in the tracks of their forbears rather than repeatedly breach several of their 10 guidelines?

"Israel is not in danger of “reoccupying” Gaza. It never stopped occupying it."

Exactly. Israel has always been the occupying force. The Palestinians are the indigenous people who have been forced out of their homes for over 75 years. And yet, the propagandists keep spinning tales that somehow it's always been the opposite way.

Thank you for this in-depth reporting. It's the only way to cut through the lies and expose the genocide enablers.

The Israel lobby in Washington wields way too much power for any real pushback from any politician to even contemplate, albeit be destroyed, a la RFK Junior. What these reprobates cannot hide is the mass murder of thousands of women, children and elderly Palestinians every minute. Real reports coming out from Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern (both ex CIA) on "Judging Freedom", https://open.spotify.com/show/5a9gf7EuZFI0TQy33M3h0V?si=746543d0067d47c1, suggest the IDF are being spanked by their Hamas counterparts in the ground incursion in Gaza. How many are they prepared to sacrifice ?

The overly broad time span of my life has given me serious doubts about the "fundamental goodness" of my country, the United States of America. The forced fed propaganda has lost its effectiveness in blurring my vision to the sordid policies our government sponsors.

What I need to do is put into practice this saying, "What you do not condemn, you condone." We must organize massive strikes, blockade weapons facilities and stridently hector our congressional representatives to pull the plug on funding our warmongering State and Defense departments with regards to enabling these inhumane policies.

Yes, I agree with everything you say, that's the truth, now revealed to the general public as hard facts. Well, at least how I've seen it all hidden for decades.

‘Hamas emerged organically out of a population that has endured decades of military abuse and oppression from Israel. Hamas is the legacy of that suffering’.

Spot on.

Wiping out Hamas is a joke. Hamas is 20 to 30,000 people. And, very effective strategists. They sure did show Israel for their lousy military and so called superior surveillance.

As always, Jonathan Cook gives his readers forthright, excellent journalism. Thank you, Mr. Cook!

My idle personal takeaway is this truth: "History is crammed full of such lessons taught to greedy, arrogant colonisers and occupiers. " Amen.

The two state solution is the only possible way to have peace between Palestinians and Israelis. It is impossible for two nations to live under the rule of a Nazi party. Look at Ukraine! Otherwise, Israel will continue its policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing until there is no Palestinian left on the territory of “Greater Israel”.

There is an immediate need for a cover story about what's been happening in Israel. "Don't be fooled. Biden is fully signed up to . . ."
