Western imperialism has been nakedly exposed by the Gaza genocide for its universal criminal endorsement of any regime or state that has used violence and repression to force its domination over its population

This article took my breath away. You have captured this dark, demoralizing, and depraved moment so precisely. It makes me think of an interview I once heard of a Holocaust survivor recounting the moment his family was rounded up in front of the neighbours. He was devastated by the apathy and complicity of people his family had known for years and had respected - they watched passively. He also remembered that a teacher he had never much liked, was the only one who tried to interfere with their arrest. I guess that teacher would have been considered fringe, one of those lefties that was just out of touch.

You write that Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis "has given Israel’s war crimes his blessing".

Well the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby visited the Diocese of Bath and Wells last week for a 24-hour Wave of Prayer, and The Wells Journal (12th September) reports that he was confronted in Bath by "local Pro-Palestine protesters" who "encouraged him to take a strong stance on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

"The Archbishop ... recalled a conversation he had with England's Chief Rabbi: 'I met him with the Cardinal Archbishop in London and we both said to him - "you've got to think about the West Bank. This can't go on. What's happening is an absolute catastrophe and will lead to another intifada."

And I'm terrified of that.'.... [Yes really!]

"The Archbishop, who is visiting Palestine this month, said he will ask Palestinians if they want the church to support the BDS movement.... [indeed!]

"The Bath Campaigns Network commented: 'BDS is a Palestinian-led movement started in 2005. It was initiated by over 170 Palestinian civil society organisations .... It calls for boycotts, divestment and sanctions to be used to bring pressure on Israel to end its regime of settler colonialism, military occupation and apartheid against Palestinians.'"

Hamas, a group “designated as a terrorist organisation” by the British government," Do the BBC fact-finders not realize that designation by the British Government as 'a terrorist organisation' does not effect the actual status of Hamas as legitimate resistance against an illegal military occupation? Or are they perfectly aware of that fact but are intent on defaming an anti-Israel organization at the behest of their real rulers?

To state "Palestinians are committing genocide against Israelis" is equivalent to stating "Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto were committing genocide against Germans". This would be comic if it wasn't so pathetic? No longer are people being influenced by those who bought us the "Beheaded babies fairytales". Their lies are nothing more than 'preaching to the choir', simply for those needing to reinforce the legitimacy, to themselves, of their brutal, murderous, degenerat, morally repugnant, Settler Colonialist ideology. Witnessed in the genocide carried out on the North American continent, in our not distant past, by Israel's main supporter and facilitator, the United States of Hypocrisy.

This is, overall, an excellent article. Except for one detail. Not once is it mentioned that Hamas were not responsible for all of those 1150 Israeli deaths. It has been reported in Israeli media, admitted by the IOF, and very recently covered by at least one US media outlet, that many of the deaths and much of the destruction that day was caused by the IOF. (Hannibal directive). Those Hamas fighters couldn't have destroyed buildings or scorched such a vast number of vehicles with the weapons they had. That level of destruction was done by tank shells and Apache helicopters armed with hellfire missiles.

I know I'm far from the only person , who has known about this since well before it was officially reported, that feels like screaming with frustration when people keep talking about Oct 7, -many, as you do here, rightly mentioning that "beheaded babies" and "mass rape" were lies, despite Kamala Harris continuing to repeat them-

but still omitting the fact that Israel killed many of their own ppl that day. That does not strike me as a small, inconsequential detail. There are still so, so many people who have no idea about this. It needs to be reported, repeatedly. Especially with the anniversary of that day looming just over the horizon. No more pulling punches.

I agree with you. Also, isn't there evidence that the breaching of probably the most secure border in the world was enabled by the Israeli regime? The IOF are primed to respond to a border breach within 3-5 minutes, but apparently some Hamas fighters were not engaged for several hours. I recently heard testimony by an Israeli woman who was the sole survivor when the IDF destroyed her kibbutz with tank fire. Hamas were engaged in negotiations to exchange the kibbutz hostages for some of the thousands of Palestinian prisoners (including children) held without charge and treated brutally for months and even years. It made sense that Hamas would want to use hostages for negotiations (as they have done before) - not to carry out "the worse massacre since the Holocaust".

A point on the all-night "rave". I believe the site was moved 2 miles closer to the border just days before 7 October and Hamas were surprised to discover it. They took hostages. The MSM reported that women had been abused etc .... One named woman was later found to have been taken hostage unharmed - but was later killed by an IDF strike.

Relevant to the case that 7th October was enabled by the Israeli regime is that just 15 days earlier, on 22nd September, Netanyahu brandished a map of Israel at the UN General Assembly. This map included the West Bank and Gaza as part of Israel.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/netanyahu-brandishes-map-of-israel-that-includes-west-bank-and-gaza-at-un-speech/

Netanyahu referred to the planned India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) from India to Europe through the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, ISRAEL and Greece which was launched on 10th September at the G20 summit in New Delhi.

https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/g20-india-middleeast-europe-corridor-8932336/

Netanyahu's speech to the UNGA on 22 September included:

"Two weeks ago ... at the G20 conference, President Biden, Prime Minister Modi, and European and Arab leaders announced plans for a visionary corridor that will stretch across the Arabian Peninsula and Israel. It will connect India to Europe with maritime links, rail links, energy pipelines, fiber optic cables. This corridor will bypass maritime checkpoints ... and dramatically lower the cost of goods, communication and energy for over 2 billion people. What a historic change for my country. You see, the land of Israel is situated in the crossroad between Africa, Asia and Europe.... We will not only bring down barriers between Israel and our neighbors, we will build a new corridor of peace and prosperity that connects Asia, through the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, to Europe. This is an extraordinary change, a monumental change. Another pivot of history."

Well said. Yes. But it is, finally, being acknowledged (because it cannot but be).

Do read 'Belated Reporting on Oct 7 Helps Justify Israel's Genocide' by Mick Hall, Consortium News (consortiumnews.com), published September 12th.

ABC, Australia's BBC, has had to report it. Mick Hall provides detail that it failed to report before. Not much consolation, but...

The only existential threat to Israel comes from the Jewish citizens (the only true citizens under law) of Israel itself.

The century-plus long Zionist project is now failing. Which is why its apologists (and its killers) lash out with increasingly intemperate spite.

They have chosen this path. They embrace it. They will not be forgiven. Not by the West (for making such a mess of what they were tasked with). Not by the world. Not by Jews of the diaspora, most particularly those in the US (the largest proportion of that diaspora).

Fantastic piece, as usual, a stealth detailed analysis and damming picture of the white western myth of backing white supremacy and genocide underpinned by colonialist, supremacist ideology of Zionism.

I am stunned to come across this viper's nest of lies. It is suspiciously lacking in details. Maybe it's satire? But it's not witty enough for that. Accusations of Israeli rape and sodomizing flips the truth as to what Hamas' crimes are. Snipers shooting Gazan children? Again, zero evidence. Just random accusations that ignore Israel's actual rules of war. I wonder if this is Iran funded propaganda. It has such a zest for slander agaibst Israel and such a stench of antisemitism, it mirrors a brownshirt newsletter circa 1930. I guess all that hate never really did go away. It just shapeshifted.

The war on Palestinians exposes israel's NAZISM - the parallels are clear: supremacy, apartheid, hatred of the other, land theft (lebensraum just like the nazis), inhuman barbaric cruelty and atrocities that violate all norms and laws, the lowest form of depracity, just like the nazis. This is a direct line from nazism. The west is appeasing israel just as hitler was appeased, and the genocide is happening in plain sight, with israelis cheering it on, the west fully complicit, not using any of the powerful tools they have to stop the genocide, such as sanctions, diplomatic steps such as expelling ambassadors from EU capitals, stopping flow of weapons, 'willing executioners' , going about their daily business and doing nothing to stop the genocide, facilitating it. Call it what is is - nazism, much worse than fascism which is authoritarianism without the genocide component

Thank you for your honest writing Jonathan. It is interesting to see how for so many Israelis, history began on October 7. I have been watching the killing of Palestinian men, women and children for the last 40 years. I remember the 70s, when Hamas did not even exist, reading about dispossession, destruction of homes, imprisonment and then the Intifada in the 80s. As Israelis excelled in barbarism, the reactionary forces expectedly countered. Israel destroyed every path to peaceful negotiation. The killing of negotiators is nothing new. My only surprise is that October 7 did not happen any sooner.
