my sanity has been restored after reading this article. all the obvious (to me) language, narrow reporting, ridiculous "sympathy" for the poor soldiers' "trauma" (WTF!? that's part of their chosen "job"), all the "alleged" claims of bombings of every civilian safe places like schools, hospitals, ambulances, Red Cross marked vehicles, food trucks, bombings of the World Central Kitchen sites, and the endless bullshit about Hamas hiding, well, every-fucking-where. I would comment, object, yell at the news and people I respect and care about ALWAYS said "... but, Hamas." I'm sickened and disgusted with the media's lack of coverage, inability to offer fair critiques of U. S. actions, inability to report on the RIGHT to assemble and peaceably demonstrate, and the utter lack of transparency regarding the undue influence of the ADL, which promotes the absurd claim that antisemitism defines every objection, every question, every consideration of Palestinian suffering at the fascist hands of Netanyahu and his war criminal henchmen. Israel does NOT have sole claim to holocausts or genocides.

You do a great job at reconnecting peoples emotions with their intellect as opposed to the severed reality people can no longer feel anything towards. I am intensely moved by the lack of discretion you show, because surely more than at any other time we must not lose sight of this shocking relity.

Thank you, Jonathan, for your fearless honesty, no matter at what risk it may put you. These are truths that must be heard by a wider public.

The only commentators with any guts seem to be from the UN; Guterres (not sure what his exact role at the UN is but near the top) in his lonely attempts to call out Israeli violence and its effects on Palestinians and who has been declared by Israel a "persona non grata" and not allowed into Israel anymore, and now the UN Special Raporteur for Palestine Francesca Albanese who predictably has been called an anti-Semite for her persistent criticism of Israeli massacres and calling a genocide a genocide and calling for Israel to be thrown out of the UN.. which it should be as it doesn't adhere to any of its rules. The UN and all its affiliates are the only organizations that can hold their heads high along with other aid agencies. The political class has entirely failed.

While it is true that Israel is forcing the western media out of viewing the carnage directly, there is stlll more than enough information out there for them to be clear about the Israeli regine’s intent

Courageous brilliant incisive analysis and commentary by Jonathan. Thank you once again for championing the TRUTH and being a voice for those who have no voice in our Western mainstream media.

Thank you!

We live in an Orwellian world where the aggressor is the victim and the victim is the aggressor. CNN’s sympathy piece for IDF soldiers’ suffering from the trauma of the brutality they have inflicted on innocent children and their mothers in Gaza is so warped. They only express sympathy for those poor IDF soldiers who’ve driven over the bodies of Palestinian children to clear the debris without showing any minimal humanity towards the murdered children. Shocking.

CNN is a Zionist-founded and owned network. No surprise there.

I hear they actually pass any piece of journalism re. Israel in front of the military censors in Jerusalem. maybe all our weak and windy MSM do the same..?

Expand full comment

Yes that’s correct. Anything reported by a CNN, BBC, MSN etc corespondent based in Israel has been reviewed by their censorship board, before you read or see or hear it.

Brilliant piece. I guess this underpins again the value of 1 Israeli life vs thousands of Palestinians. Israel is committing the same crimes visited upon Jews by the Nazis. And it's okay in 2024. What an f-ed up world we live in. The west has so much to answer for.

Excellent ….. thank you, Jonathan.

We in the West kid ourselves that we live in democracies and that we occupy such moral high ground that we have a duty to spread democracy around the world.

Apart from yourself and other independent journalists, that ‘holding power to account’ pillar of democracy is non-existent.

Until we who oppose the Genocide in Palestine stand in Solidarity with all those who openly stand and resist the fascist onslaught by the state the press or any other means then it's just empty gestures. It's time we stood up and stated that we support all forms of resistance from Palestine to our own streets . I don't know what more can be done other than say that I Support the Resistance to this Genocide I stand with the journalists who speak the Truth , I've been on marches and I support all who protest alas it falls on deaf ears ,I'm tired of crying it's time to get angry

Feeling the same, marches and protests are not working. Americans must act to disrupt the status quo in the only peaceful way we know how, we must divest. We must stop feeding the beast. It will not be easy, but the murdered journalists and civilians deserve at least as much.

Living in the UK and watching Aljazeera News has been an eye opener , to say the least . To say I feel my entire life shaped by what I read and see on the BBC and the UKs Press ,has been so sheltered to the point of being mind controlled .

If you watch the BBC ITV to a slightly lesser extent Channel 4 I have awoken to the fact that the knowledge I thought I had and the amount of censorship I believed our FREE PRESS came under was totally wrong .

The Slaughter of Gaza is not on the masses minds in the UK because they don’t see or hear of it ? One or two lines on the radio news or almost a byline on the TV news doesn’t inform anyone of the Genocide our Government is co conducting under our nose . How many come here to read articles of such Merit compared to the absolute pap they are fed on our mainstream media ?

"my entire life shaped by what I read and see", the same about the mainstream media brainwashing we have had in the U.S for the past 50 years. Now that some independent news can reach many of us we are in an epiphany of sadness and anger.

Jonathan, thank you for this incredible piece. I would go further and say there is a complete war on truth. We are meant to be so submerged and controlled that any objective truth that does not serve the government's narrative, must be erased. Kill the truth-tellers and imprison them in the mantra.

You speak of journalists and media being complicit in their silence, however the situation - legally and in the UK in particular is much worse than people realise. Have a look at this if you have time. Actually, I'd implore you to:

I suggest that one doesn’t get promoted to the top corporate and media jobs amongst those identifying as Jewish, unless one is a Zionist. Indeed in 2020, the top 2 leaders of British Jewry, Simon Schaema and Lord Robert Winston plus Harold 'blood libel' Jacobsen signed a letter saying; “We are committed Zionists and passionately outspoken friends of Israel.’

I’m well aware of the resentment in pre-war Germany over Jewish people who seemed to have a lot of money and influence. However, that should not prevent us saying we find it unfair how disproportionately those identifying as Jewish are represented in those rich enough to lobby government and in the top influential, media jobs in the UK.

Even more so now that we find out that they all appear to be supporters of a genocide.

Judaism does not equal Zionism but it seems to be very clear from what they have said that all the lobbying, visible, influential Judaism followers in the UK are, in fact, Zionists.

"Winstanley is not the first journalist to be accused of falling foul of the Terrorism Act. In recent weeks, Richard Medhurst, a freelance journalist, was arrested at Heathrow airport on his return from a trip abroad. Another journalist-activist, Sarah Wilkinson, was briefly arrested after her home was ransacked by police. Their electronic devices were seized too."

This is a clear as day warning to anyon writing about Palestine. Make a frequent backup of all your work, and keep it in a place they will never look.
