It's probably about time for China to recognize the independence of the Isle of Wight, provide missiles and send in a bunch of soldiers to "train" the locals. That might give Mr. Unelected Sunak pause. What a pile of desperate idiots managing the British ship of ignoramuses.
Oh absolutely Ian. As long as China obeys the US warning on Taiwan, and just keeps on keeping on with expanding BRICS+ and overtaking US economic and political hegemony, we can all go back to bed.
My comment is one I have made many times before and almost certainly echoes the opinion of those who read your informed and forensic analysis of the world order as it is and not as the MSM and our impotent Parliament would have us believe it is.The extent and expansion of the US military presence in the UK is rarely acknowledged not indeed the deployment of UK personnel. There is but one accepted narrative with regard to the Ukraine war justifying vast expenditure a nod to the use of cluster bombs depleted uranium outlawed by so many countries because of their devastting and long term effects on the civilian population not to mention the often covert training of Ukranians to operate the ever increaising flood of sophisticated military hardware the list and detail is endless but more ominous is the silencing indeed shameing of a moral voice that dares to mention negotiation. Thankyou Jonathan but now might be the time for the revelation of facts and figures in the hope that the public might be shocked into accepting the reality of a situation that could so easily escalate into a nuclear confrontation and more vivid reminders of what that would actually mean. The government and its Oppostion if indeed it could be called that can bemoan Crumbling school walls, inapproproate cladding,.child poverty , homelessness, appalllng inequality but all this would be meaningless should this happen.
Once again an excellent insight into global politics. Europe has a choice to blindly follow the US or be brave enough and confident enough to step out of the strangling US intentions of being top dog through bullying. The most significant event recently has been Iran/Saudi Arabia rapprochement. I wonder what Jonathan makes off this great rush by US to bring about this artificial Saudi Arabia/Israel normality is relationship. My worry is that Saudis might be lured into false hopes of being helped with their nuclear energy ambitions at the cost of leaving the Palestinians once again in the lurch. I think the UAE have not yet received the jet fighters that they were promised if they normalised with Israel or have they? Another, spanner in the works might come at the next US elections as neither side may not accept outcome, perhaps, the rest of the world should now insist that US, UK...elections should have international observers. monitoring any skulduggery!
Europe already slit its own throat at American command and you think that the European political class is going to start taking European concerns into account now?!?
Have you read the piece or just the headlines? Of course, the European political elite is only going to obey Washington diktats – as the piece explains.
The Democratic Party and its Deep State enablers seem as desperate for a nuclear conflict as they are to utterly polarize the United States on the basis of race, national origin, gender and religion. It seems insane but it's true, and voters are ultimately to blame, especially hegemonic voting blocs whose overseers insist they vote for the Democratic Party no matter what. Traditionalist Republicans are also hell bent on attaining Armageddon but GOP voters are a bit more flexible in their voting choices. Neither major party seems much interested in peace or individual liberty.

Stop worrying. As long as China keeps its hands off Taiwan, everything will be okay.

I hadn't considered the economic alliance to be a threat. Do you think it will turn into a military alliance?
I am in fact a subscriber to Cook News though I am always told that I am not.

Thank you, excellent analysis as always.

Europeans *like* being slaves, toadies, lackeys.
Incidentally, the Saudi/Iranian rapprochement blows up the myth that only US hegemony can keep the peace.
The need to promote oneself does tend to obscure rational analysis.
You're joking, right?

I'm just surprised that the question was asked.

Is this about surplus capital?
