The guardian is a destroyed paper as far as I am concerned. I will never believe in them ever again.

If you look at the Genocide Convention definition of "genocide," this is not a genocide. War crimes? Yes.

The Lemkin Institute, whose founder drew up the original definition of genocide, on which the Convention is based, disagrees with you. As does the ICJ, which is investigating Israel after it believed a "plausible" case was made by SA that a genocide was taking place 10 months ago, before things got far worse. If you have superior qualifications to either, then please do let us know. Otherwise, we'll probably all agree to ignore your contribution on this issue.

I will suppress the urge to respond in kind to your snark . . .

When the Lemkin Institute, the ICJ, Raz Segal, Omer Bartov, Adam Jones, or any other authoritative source makes a convincing case that, with intent, Israel is acting to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinian people, as such, I'll sign on, my inferior qualifications nothwithstanding.

Mainstream journalism’s traditional function may be quietly changing. The adage-description of journalism’s fundamental function can remain the same, but revision of terminological representation is definitely in order. While it remains “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable,” there may be an alteration to what/who constitutes an “afflicted” and “the comfortable”.

As a good contemporary example, the new “afflicted” requiring news-media comforting includes the Israeli government and IDF in their mass-slaughter of Gazan innocents when in the past it would've been more likely (and rightly) the Palestinian civilians, as the latter resist having their ancestral lands gradually annexed and being cleansed from it [an inverse David versus Goliath].

Western corporate news outlets, including Canada's otherwise-socially-progressive Toronto Star and Globe and Mail metro-daily papers, are either complicit in or actually support Israel’s continuing campaign of inflicting mass suffering and slaughter in Gaza. Too many have lost too much of their journalistic/editorial independence, ethics and even humanity.

Journalists and editors with genuine integrity would tender their resignations and publicly proclaim they can no longer help propagate their employer’s corrupt media product (be it from the Right or Left). It’s their ethical/moral duty to publicly call-out the self-compromised mainstream news-media for which they work(ed).

By doing so, such brave journalists/editors can at least then proclaim they will no longer complacently or complicitly assist in the corrupted news-media product’s creation and/or dissemination.

I hear of too many cases of employees not standing up in such situations to do what is necessary for the public or human good, instead excusing themselves with something like: ‘I needed to keep this job; I have a family to support’. I’m afraid that — unless, of course, they were actually forced into coupling, copulating and procreating however many years before — such familial obligation status does not actually ethically or morally justify their complacency/complicity.

You are making an invaluable contributing to the documenting of the genocide and its enablers. I don't know how you do it but thank you.

Growing Western indifference towards the continuing slaughter of helpless Palestinian non-combatants will only have further inflamed long-held Middle Eastern anger towards the West.

Some countries’ actual provision, mostly by the U.S., of highly effective weapons used in Israel’s mass slaughter will likely have turned that anger into lasting hatred seeking eye-for-an-eye redress. And perhaps another 9/11 — after which, of course, most stunned Americans will again wonder why their nation was so viciously/horrifically attacked — with CNN broadcasting another ‘Why They Hate Us’ propaganda piece.

More «they hate us for our freedom». Which freedom. The right to be imprisoned and cancelled for opposing genocide.

Nothing. Ever change since the Berlin Conference over 100 years ago. The European-culture “white man” still thinks he has a divine right to own the entire planet. And anyone who wants to keep their homeland is a “renegade”

On the Gaza-assault topic, the most journalistically, and perhaps even morally, compromised news-media I've read is Canada’s National Post newspaper. You would really have to read it to believe it, especially since the Oct.7 Hamas attack on Israel. It epitomizes an extreme example of an echo chamber promoting unconditional support for the Israeli state, including its very-long-practiced cruelty towards the Palestinian people.

For example, a single-column story about a five-year-old American-Palestinian boy who was stabbed to death by the landlord of the residence in which he and his mother lived simply for being Palestinian was placed on page 5, while placed up high on the front page was a large photo (which accompanied a much larger story) with three Israeli teenage girls crying after their friends or family were kidnapped by Hamas gunmen.

More progressive outlets like Canada's other national newspaper, The Globe and Mail — progressive in regards to essentially following “woke” ideology — can be more deceptive with its essentially pro-Israel coverage and op/ed writing since 10/7. There seems to have been an attempt at appearing objective on this topic when it actually is not.

Yes indeed, the same is happening pretty much everywhere else.

All mainstream medias work in symbiosis. If you didn’t know how it works, here is how it is.

There is basically only two media sources, associated press and reuters, they put out the mainlines, newspapers take the treads and write their stories using the same language teams and orientation. provided. The echo chamber produced is what we call “the news”.

This is pretty much globally.

All of them are also sponsored by the same companies, and all of them write to protect their sponsors and to go against anyone going after them.

There is no more journalism in mainstream, a bit like go ogle, with its so called “synthetic search” which in contrast to its previously used “organic search” which provided results based on what was most searched and clicked , only shows and promotes those who pay, and gives preference strictly for commercial purposes.

This process begun in 2020, when both alternative and mainstream medias were threatened and forced to comply with the pandemic and “safe and effective narrative”, and force to close down if they didn’t.

Since then, all mainstream medias are basically owned by pigpharma, which is in effect also sponsor of all the main television stations. This is in effect the only way how pigpharma can continue to fight real science and keep a lid on the hundreds of millions if not billions of death and injured which have resulted from their censure of doctors and experts, and by the mass culling operation by them endorsed”.

The wars in Ukraine and in the Middle East, are diversions, so that those responsible for the scam can stay out of jail.

This is why they are continuing to lie and now pretend to be opposed to the horrors , while in reality they are continuing to do shield and do business with its perpetrators.

Real news is now only coming from real people, mainstream is nothing but propaganda.
